Packing
Fret City Music carefully packs your instrument in its original factory box and we add a special flexible dense foam wrap around your guitar for protection. This results in minimal increase in weight / carton dimension and keeps our shipping costs low. We have shipped hundreds of instruments without incident using this method.
Purolator Courier
Fret City Music offers expedited shipping via Purolator Courier and we will be pleased to provide a quote on request. Some local shipments may be shipped by Purolator instead of Canada Post at Fret City Music's discretion (at no additional cost to customer).
Customer Responsibilities
Fret City Music will prepare the appropriate export documentation for shipments outside Canada. It is the customer's responsibility for any import brokerage fees, duties or taxes imposed by your Country.
Shipments to USA
Shipments to the USA are shipped via Canada Post declared at the actual selling price. Fret City will affix a Customs declaration CN23 form to the outside of package as per US Customs Regulations. See the US Customs and Border Protection Web site for details. Although this is not always the case, please expect to pay customs duty upon arrival to the US Post Office. The rate for Electric Guitars (Tarrif Code 9207) as of Nov 2008 was 5.4% of the combined selling price + shipping costs. In addition you may be charged a brokerage fee by US Customs. You are responsible to pay for these fees upon pickup (or delivery) of your order. In summary, Fret City will prepare the paperwork, and the goods will be cleared by US Post Office at the destination. If any taxes / fees are due, they will be collected at the point of delivery.
USA Tracking
A tracking number will be provided when your item is shipped from Fret City. You will receive a shipping notification and link to check on the shipment status. You can also input your tracking number into the USPS.com site or CanadaPost.com site to obtain status. Please note, after your shipment cross the border into the US the on-line status is not normally updated until the shipment arrives at your local post office, so don't be alarmed if there are no status updates. Canada Post / USPS does a good job and they have a good on-time performance for deliveries.
