Q: Who are you guys and why did you start Fret City?
A: Fret City is an online guitar store based in Canada. We ship to customers in Canada and the USA however we have capability to ship almost anywhere. We started Fret City because we simply wanted to run a guitar store. Fret City employees and partners are musicians and love playing. We want to have fun, and at the same time sell quality products and make some money at it.
Q: Where is your factory ?
A: We do not have our own factory. The guitars we sell are built at the Yeou Chern factory in Asia. Yeou Chern produces OEM guitars for Gibson, Washburn, Aria and Ibanez.
Q: Can I pick up my guitar from your warehouse to save money ?
A: Pickups are permitted by appointment only.
Q: Can I come in and try out a Guitar at your warehouse?
A: As stated above, Fret City is a web based store. We don't offer the same services as a traditional music store. We don't have floor sales staff. Our Logistics facility is not appropriate to take care of customers who want to come in and play music and try out things. That costs money and then we would need to drastically increase our prices. A web based purchase is not for everyone and we understand that. We offer a 30 day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with our products for any reason.
Q: But I’m really serious about considering your product but need to try one !
A: At our studio in Richmond Hill, we offer limited Saturday appointments to try any of our J&D instruments in a (non-sales) studio setting. We have a number of amps (Marshall, Peavey, Roland, Yorkville) You can also bring in your own amp if you like to hear how a certain J&D model will sound with YOUR gear. You can make an appointment with us by sending an inquiry using our "contact-us" form link at the top of each page. We do ask that you respect your scheduled time slot as the studio may be in use by other musicians that day.
Q: Are you trying to compete with traditional Music Stores ?
A: Yes and no : We support the local music stores ourselves and have our favorites. We mainly offer our services to those customers who prefer the convenience of buying online, and those who are outside of major cities who are not near music stores. We feel customers are tired of getting poor treatment they often get at music stores. We are proving that a web based store can deliver better, more personalized service than you would get in a bricks-and-mortar store.
Q: Do you haggle on prices ?
A: NO : We offer excellent value and our prices are ALREADY set as low as possible. We must make a fair profit to support our business and we sell at a very fair price. PS : We also charge sales tax where applicable and remit our taxes so please don't ask us to sell without charging the appropriate taxes.
Q: Do you have more models than shown on your site ?
A: Yes, we order from the factory and add new products from time to time. We order factory quantities and we have a large pallet of colors we can pick for builds. If you have a special color in mind, let us know and if we think it will sell, we may consider having a batch of guitars to be built in your color. |
